The programme ran from March to July 2024, covering the primary gull-activity season as the site underwent a new roof installation and solar-panel works. Gyr/saker hybrids, peregrines and Harris hawks were deployed to establish sustained predator presence across the building envelope and immediate surroundings.
Bioacoustics, laser deterrence and lure work were integrated alongside the falconry programme, responding to gull pressure around an operational commercial site and the specific conditions created by rooftop contractor activity. Deployment was coordinated with the roofing contractors and Booker's own site management, working within an environment that remained open and trading throughout the programme.
The target species was herring gull. Gull pressure during rooftop and solar works creates a direct conflict with contractor activity — particularly during installation phases — and management had to address that pressure without disruption to site operations.
